Picture this scenario…

Two friends, let’s call them Mike and Jim, attend a Silva seminar for the first time.

They have a great time, learn a treasure trove of new information, meet a ton of new friends, and go home feeling like they’ve just been given a new lease on life.

Six months later, Mike and Jim bump into each other at a coffee shop.

Mike looks like the kind of person everyone wishes they could be. His face is glowing. He’s upbeat, cheerful and relaxed. He tells Jim that in the six months since they met, he’s got a promotion at work, stopped smoking, and found the love of his life.

Jim isn’t so lucky. He’s struggling to pay his bills, never has enough time for himself, and goes through what he calls an emotional roller coaster, juggling his family and his career in an endless stream of deadlines and expectations.

In other words, he’s no better off than he was six months ago, when he first attended that Silva seminar.

So what’s the difference between these two people?

They both went for the same seminar. They both learned the same things. They both walked away from it feeling confident that their lives were about to change for the better…

Yet only one of them succeeded.

What did Mike do that Jim didn’t?

The answer is…

Mike was DISCIPLINED.

In the days, weeks and months after that Silva seminar, Mike made it a habit to practice his meditations and exercises every morning when he woke up, and every night before he went to sleep.

He would set daily intentions for himself. He monitored his progress, and never gave up–even when sometimes his efforts didn’t bring immediate results.

He even made it a point to talk to other, more experienced Silva graduates to ask them for advice.

Mike was consistent, persistent, and focused.

But this isn’t to say that Jim was completely indisciplined! He too tried to practice, set intentions, and make himself a better person.

The only difference is, he didn’t make it a  daily habit. He didn’t give one hundred percent. Too often, he allowed stress and negativity to distract him from his goals and his personal growth.

As you can see, it wasn’t intention that made the difference between Mike and Jim. It wasn’t even just knowledge, or attitude.

It was pure, undiluted discipline.

So now that you know the answer, tell me…

Are you disciplined in your Silva practice?

Are Silva meditations and exercises a part of your daily habit?

Do you seek help when you need it?

Let me know how you’re doing in the comments section below.

I’d love to hear about your thoughts and experiences.

Better And Better,

Laura

P.S. By the way, have a look at this video. It’s a new compilation of success stories from Silva graduates… but as you’ll see, we’ve gone for a slightly different, more upbeat tone with this one. Do you like it?

Hello Laura – I have been meditating daily for the past thirty-nine years with the Silva Method since taking the Basic Lecture series in Perryton, Texas from your father. I use the Centering Exercise, many of the meditations from the Silva Intuition System and the Mind Body Healing System. After each session of meditation, I will write in my journal to chart my progress and the comments that come from people who know me and people whom I encounter. My health is excellent and my life if rich with family, friends, money and various ways of manifesting what I want in life. I still encounter problems in my life, but problem solving and applying corrective measures at all levels and depths is what we are empowered to do with the Silva System and meditation. For me, the Silva Method is one of the easiest methods of meditation of the many that are out there. I use the Alpha sound twice a day and the Theta sound once a day, so that I can remember how to reach those levels anytime, and anywhere I need them for guidance, confidence, relaxation and tranquility.

    Part 2 –
The methods that your father and you have produced offer a wide array of opportunities for an individual to correct personal, financial, spiritual and health situations. I recommend daily meditation to every person on the planet. We need people who discover themselves and learn how to overcome their problems, so that we can help overcome the problems of the world. Yes, daily meditation is a discipline, but the benefits far outweigh the taking of a few minutes three times per day to have the life, health and overall sense of well-being to meet all of life's challenges with a clear mind and a peacefulness of being.

OK, I admit it! I lack discipline. I managed to decrease my migraines to minimum.. I used to have strokes once to twice a month. Severe ones, that lasted 3 days… Now, I know how to deal with them.. and this is just a small bit..
The Silva Method is a very powerful tool. I just need to be more persistent…
Thank you for the wonderful video!

    Yes! I like it!
Very inspirational and in FULL agreement. It works for me. Trigeminal neuralgia pain neutralized and cast off!
Now I have to start my daily meditations. Take care and create what you want with that IMAGINATION and VISUALIZATION! What a happy day when I was guided to Jose Silva!

What a great story/example of DISCIPLINE! This has been an area in which I have struggled. I know it is good for me, I know it works, I know it makes a difference…but for some reason it seems that when I am having one of my bad or worst days…well, it is then that I don't do my meditating! For some reason I have been struggling with doing it on those days. I don't have a problem doing it any other time really, but when I need it the most…that seems to be when I don't meditate. Any suggestions or ideas as to why this has become a cycle for me?

I think it is because you, like me get discouraged sometimes when things get difficult and then it's like nothing matters.
Somebody once told me that when the devil sold all his weapons discouragement was the only one it held on to, because it is so powerful in getting us off track, everything seems dark and hopeless and then we just don't have the energy to go back and search for the truth. Does the Method teach strategies on how to deal with discouragement? That's what I need the most.

So did I. Thank you for saying that Derek. Sometimes we just need to get back to basics.
Your comment was a reminder to me to do just that.
Have your BEST LIFE EVER !!!

Very cool video. Silva's dynamic meditations are such a simple and yet powerful way to stay in the flow and allow more of what we need to manifest.

  10. Amy May 14, 2010 at 2:57 pm #

I don't have the discipline at all to follow the Silva method. It just seems hard to find the time to do this extra thing. But I'll definitely give it a try again and menifest a better future for my life. With the very limited changes I made, many things start to menifest already. I am thankful to God and the universe who listened to me. Thank you Silva too!

I like the up-tempo video, and it reminds all Silva graduates that great things happen when we enter deeper, healthier levels of mind.

    Hi Laura,

Very true, very true – ask any person that achieved something in life – sports, degrees, good habits, good business… and the list goes on. Set your mind into a goal and enjoy the process of getting there :-)

That word is actually to achieve many things in life :-)

If you are not self-disciplined you will not get anywhere.

I love the video. For a long time I have been a person who believed that if I can believe I can see it – I can achieve it. I have tried affirmations and I love the possibilities of what they can bring. I know that it works because I got the car of my choice through positive affirmations which brought about a strong passion for getting the car. I also got my house that way and became an aerobics instructor at a great gym. I have higher hopes and dreams. I believe. The problem I am having now is just being consistent and I have to learn how to become a Laura Silva meditation practitioner. I will and I won't give up. Thank you Laura and your staff and for all of the encouraging emails. The world needs this! Enola

Jim Rohn said it best: "Pain in life in inevitable – but will it be the pain of discipline or the pain or regret?"

Mos people think discipline is constraining, in fact, it is freedom.

Hi, Discipline is a huge problem for me in all aspects of my life. If I had more discipline I would not eat the extra food (whatever it might be.) I would pick up and put things away after use. I would say no when I need to. Many things would change if I had discipline. I start out STRONG very strong with the meditations then I don't know what happen . Knowing I am like this I purchased Silva and other programs to help me but……low and behold after a while I put off the meditation to later, later never comes. FOR ME IT IS THE R WORD. I have such a strong RESISTANCE. My stomach gets upset, my mind will not quiet, find it difficult to sit still. This energy blockage is severe for me. This R is putting abundance in the pockets of others not me. Also my spouse is very against CRAZY stuff as he calls it. I am still going to do the work on myself even in my limited way and hope something helps . I feel deep inside I must.

Hi Laura, Thanks for the inspiring video and the story, like Jim I wasn't very disciplined after attending a Silva Life System Seminar, thankfully I also have the seminar on CD's and have been listening to them daily and working with the meditation relaxation tapes to practice entering my Alpha level. I purchased a journal to start setting my goals and following through on them. Looking forward to becoming better and better!

Good article! Well, the truth for me it’s that I’m not really disciplined, I often find myself meditating only 2 or 3 times a week, and although I know that I need more meditation (and I really want more too) I don’t do it. There’s always that voice saying “be lazy this time” and I don’t know what to do with it. Anyway when I find time to meditate or just relax a little bit I feel amazingly good.

Every day I say: This is the one, today I start a disciplined life, but that happens only a couple of days and then I feel lazy.

Thanks for the article I hope it’ll help me!

Thanks for the video…A reminder for me to be persistant and consistent with developing great habits and overcoming resistances. Meditation has helped me to become more centred and let go of criticism, judgement and stress…Thanks once again and have a great day.

Hello Laura, thank you for the gentle reminder on discipline. Your story was a wonderful reminder on how " The Silva Method " when I practice it daily will work for me.
Today was the first time in a while that I had listened to your work. I took the time to do something for myself and to become focused on what was going on around me, of all the lessons I could have chosen to listen to I started with lesson 1 again. It was just what I needed. It was like you were reading my mind, with a clearer understanding of what was bothering me I have now worked around it and will continue to become more disciplined at re-continuing with my study of the Silva Method.
    Thanks again,

I have the Silva Life System and admit I haven't been using it like I should. I am dealing with many health issues and am exhausted but I know this isn't an excuse so started tomorrow I will start the free course. I have too much going on tonight so I saved this sight and will get back to it tomorrow. Thank you to all the people who shared, especially the new ones. Blessings! Nancy

I guess I’m the Jim in this scenario–no discipline :-(

I have both Silva programs & as much as i’d love it to work for me, I guess I first have to have the discipline…any tips on how I can effectively stay disciplined?

  24. Claudia May 16, 2010 at 3:39 pm #

Sometimes I feel so tired from work and stress that I go to sleep instead of practicing the meditations..I also live in an apartment right next to the highway so even if i use head phones the outside noises still disturb me..and also my upstairs neighbors always make too much noise…I feel a little angry about that…and I have a five yr old boy so its not like I can just leave to go somewhere quiet..I dont know what else I could do to be able to meditate without all these disruptions..any advice on this?
