The way to clear mind chatter is the 1 exercise. If you repeat 1, 1, 1 when something comes to mind, it will get rid of it. If something else comes into mind, say 2, 2, 2, and so on. Mind chatter hates the repetition of the numbers, and if you do this every time, mind chatter will disappear, like an naughty child or dog who gets no reaction for bad behaviour.

hi,
yes.. this makes sense to me and is reassuring, to know that i'm in the process of getting this right!! is it a major problem if i droop during my meditation? i find my head hanging a bit sometimes during meditation. once or twice i was rudely awakened out of my meditation, by phone bells etc.. do i negate the process if i snap out? can i shut my eyes and go back again? or should i then leave a gap and restart from the beginning?
love to hear from u.

Hi Tweety,
The position of your back has to be straight, you can lean against the wall if you want. If you lay down it's possible that you fall asleep, so we recommend to do the exercise sitting down and finish the whole exercise.
Sitting meditation positions and body postures must be aligned to maintain energy flow. When sitting on the floor, you can use a cushion or pillow to soften the impact. To see other sitting position check here: http://www.chikung-unlimited.com/Meditation-Posit...

Dear Laura,
Thank you so much for clarifying that it is OK for your mind to wander. I meditate to your centering audio twice a day, once in the morning and then again at night and have to admit that I find it hard to concentrate on all the directions you are giving for the entire 1/2 hour. My mind really wanders on to day to day problems and I was concerned whether I was doing it correctly or not.
Could you please advise why the spine has to be straight -- is laying down not advisable?

Thank you for the tips. Would you mind expanding on your 4th tip-- "being relax while keeping the mind alert"? Also, how can this tip be transferred to day to day tasks?

I have recently started learning meditation and wonder how you know when you're at your center. I also am hearing a high-pitched whine constantly indoors and outdoors.

Dear Laura
Your tips definitely helped me. For some inexplicable reason, as soon as I began my meditation session, a shopping list which hadn't even entered my mind minutes before, popped into my head! It was very odd! Now, after reading your tips, I acknowledge the list, then send it on its way and get back to my meditation. Now, I'm a very happy bunny!
