You’ve probably heard of people with the ability to bend spoons and levitate themselves or objects. This phenomenon is called psychokinesis. It is a fascinating, though barely understood, ability to manipulate our world using the energy of our thoughts.
What is Psychokinesis?
It refers to the ability to move objects by mental effort alone. The origins of the word are the Greek “psyche,” meaning mind, soul, heart and breath; and “kinesis,” meaning motion or movement. Together, they are “mind-movement.”
Psychokinesis also refers to the ability to speed up or slow down the vibrations of atoms in matter. Telekinesis (the ability to move remote objects with alone) is a form of psychokinesis. And, the powers of healing using the mind are linked to psychokinesis, since the healer (AND the patient) heal the body using mental power.
The Left-Brain Approach
Psychokinesis is the subject of heated debates. Does it exist? Is it possible? Is it trickery? Most scientists believe there is not enough evidence to convince them that psychokinesis is possible. Too many laboratory experiments have yielded inconclusive evidence, and many performers who specialize in psychokinesis have been found to use sleight of hand and other illusions.
Most adults function as left-brain (hemisphere) dominant. This means thinking is constrained by logic, time and space, and input comes from the physical senses. This way of thinking automatically rejects anything that does not fit into time-space parameters – such as psychic phenomena. The left brain only stores memories and processes information based on the physical senses. So even trying to perform laboratory experiments on something that cannot be explained by input from the physical senses is a left-brain sensory approach. Lab experiments rely on data that can be understood in terms of known laws of time and space, and must be measurable in a way that makes sense logically and within those space-time parameters. So left-brain experiments will probably never yield satisfactory proof that psychic phenomena are real and that they can’t be attributed to other influences.
When you look at psychokinesis in terms of quantum physics, then it becomes plausible. If everything is energy, and different concentrations of energy influence others, then there’s no reason why the energy of thoughts and intention could not be made to influence “solid” matter, which is after all, not solid at all. There is just too much we don’t understand about the universe yet. The biggest problem is that we are looking at psychokinesis from a left-brain perspective.
The Right-Brain Approach
But, you can learn to approach mysteries such as this from a right-brain approach. The Silva Method teaches the benefits of functioning normally in the alpha brainwave state. Alpha is associated with accelerated learning and healing, clarity, inspiration, creativity, intuition, concentration and psychic abilities. The ability to manage your personal energy while in alpha leads to improved mental faculties – specifically, you develop normal everyday use of the creative and intuitive right brain hemisphere.
When you access the right brain hemisphere’s alternative operating mode, you begin using your psychic abilities. The right brain stores memories with no constraints - there is no difference between “real” and “imagined”, and memories that are outside the scope of the physical senses are equally valid in the right brain. Extra-sensory (“outside the senses”) perception, intuition and out-of-the-box creativity are the hallmarks of the right brain hemisphere. In the right brain, time and space do not exist. It is a purely time-less, infinite, energetic way of perceiving the world.
Can you develop your psychic skills using the Silva Method?
Any skill can be enhanced with practice. Here is what the Silva Method mind training program will teach you to:
1. Control your thoughts. As you meditate, you can choose to focus on your thoughts (or one particular thought). You can choose to enter a state of quiet mind with NO thoughts. You can implant desired thoughts in your mind (replacing those you don’t want). So in essence, since thoughts are energy, you are manipulating energy with mind power. It’s not exactly psychokinesis, though it does lead to physical change. When you master the universe within, you change your physical reality: your thoughts lead to actions, and actions lead to results.
2. Lucid dream and become an active participant in the alternative reality of your dream time. This skill is useful in helping you solve problems and answer complex questions. In the right-brain way of thinking, there is no difference between the dream world and the “real” world, and you can access a lot of valuable information by paying attention to your dreams.
3. Creatively visualize and use your imagination to create physical reality (somewhat like thought control, only non-verbal). These images provide the stimulus for you to take action… and generate results that mirror what is in the imagination.
4. Use whole-brain, dual-hemisphere “genius thinking” that will enable you to problem-solve outside your own “box” and be wildly creative in all areas of your life.
Will any of these develop your ability to bend spoons or levitate? Maybe. That would be cool, right? If you are able to focus – intensely laser focus – your mind’s energy on an object, who’s to say what “can” and “cannot” happen? “Can” and “can’t” is a very left-brained analysis based on the known laws of physics (emphasis on “known” – since there is still so much we can’t explain); but for the right brain, such limits do not exist.
And quantum physicists are discovering that energy is quite interesting – its properties are challenging what was once believed to be “true.”
Something to meditate on… The human mind is able to operate outside the known laws of space and time.
So don’t rule out psychokinesis if you’re a skeptic. Try thinking about it from a right-brain perspective.
