Hi friends,
How were your Christmas celebrations? I must say I had such a wonderful, happy and joyous time surrounded by my loved ones and my family, I just couldn’t ask for more.

Even through the hustle and bustle of Christmas, you, my Silva family, were constantly on my mind… And that was when I decided to take this picture to share with you!
But now it’s time to look ahead and look forward towards a whole new beginning… 2010 is just around the corner and there is nothing that can make me happier than to see you make it an even better year than 2009!
And to do this, I am going to share with you the 5 Rules of Happiness that my father, Jose Silva has identified.
My father has always said this:
“Stress is not caused by problems. It is your attitude toward the problem that causes stress. Knowing the cause of stress makes it easier to deal with, for now the appropriate question can be asked. The question is not how can I rid myself of stress, but how can I change my attitude toward work, events, disappointments, fears, and people?”
Now as your work towards living the life that you desire in the New Year, keep this in mind everytime you find yourself facing stressful or unhappy situations.
The 5 Rules Of Happiness:
- If you like something, enjoy it.
- If you don’t like something, avoid it.
- If you don’t like something and can’t avoid it, change it.
- If you can’t or choose not to avoid or change something you don’t like, then accept it.
- You accept something by changing your perception of it.
Sounds pretty simple right? I agree too, but you’d be surprised at how fast most people forget these 5 simple rules when faced with a difficult situation.
So next time you find yourself in an unhappy or stressful situation, run through these 5 rules in your head and see if you’re breaking any of them. Trust me, they’d really help you see what you can do to remedy the situation and be happy.
I hope that helps, and now, let’s look forward to a happy, wonderful and abundant 2010!
Better and Better,
Laura

I printed the 5 steps to happiness to go on my board beside desk..I luv stayin’ happy.
I love the 5 rules to a stress free life. However things are not easily changed and when they are there are a whole new set of problems. At least this has been my experience over the little while. While solving one problem, we were left with another and then another. It seem like the ‘song that never ends, it goes on and on my friend.’ The good news is that I at last got the whole family involved and we worked towards our goal as a team and as a family. I am confident that the new year is going to bring happiness and fulfillment to all involved, either directly or indirectly, in the drama that has hit our family. So, yes, these 5 rules can work, but sometimes it takes alot of work on our part. Thank you and have a great new year!
Thank you radiant Laura – Mrs. Claus! Over the past 3 months I have become a Silva devotee and am lovin’ it! My hubby likes seeing me better & better. I taped the 5 steps on my computer station as a reminder to be happy in 2010.
Easy to said, hard to applied ! From now on until Im able to do it ,my copie goes in my poket and each time I need it , I will take them out and read it!! Take u for this wonderfull tool!
These 5 steps make such sense. I have been off work with ‘stress’ for 8 weeks and as I am a person who always tries to heal myself, I had already determined that I needed a different attititude to work stress. I shall be returning in 2 weeks with a whole new attititude to survive increasing pressures from a global company. But this also applies to anything in your life. Anyone suffering now, please please try it. Lots of love xxx
These five points are something that I need to be reminded of daily…Thank you for sharing them with us as I am sure that we can all use these reminders!
I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and will have an ever better New Years!
God bless in the most sincerest way possible!
Thank you, Laura, for sharing your happy picture. I love the 5 rules of happiness. They are simple and practical.
Really great remedy to face stress in life.
wishing you Season’s Greetings and all success to your future endeavors.
I have printed the 5 rules out and given them to my son as a present for the coming year. Intend to remind him every day about the rules and not only him. Myself in the first place.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Aneta
I will certainly pay attention to these rules and can identify a current situation that this could be applied to and by doing so allow myself and others to move on.
Well said!! Thanks for sharing and getting us ready for 2010.
I really liked the centering excercise audio it is magical. And I use the three levels of relaxation everyday.
Every child needs a garden, and every garden needs a child.
Thank you for the garden Laura, and I wish you, and yours, all your heart desires for 2010, and always.
Right on the money! We all need to be reminded to apply these simple and basic techniques to our everyday lives. In todays hustle and bustle world we need some basic rules to live by to help us simplify our way of dealing with the ever-mounting stresses in life. I believe that a large percentage of what we call “illness” and “disease” are a direct result of how we handle stress. When we are “taking on” the stresses that life presents us,our bodies are so “involved” with just maintaining our stress levels, it is hard for the body to fully heal itself. Thanks for the fabulous and simple tips. Happiest of New Years to you all!
“God, Give us the grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed, Courage
to change the things which should be changed,
And the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.”
well that was useless….
I once traveled with one of my family made??. It was beautiful. We wanted to relax a little bit, because we all work very much. My mother was very happy that we finally go somewhere. My daughter has jumped into the air. It has been happy. We like it when we travel somewhere together can, because there is always something happening. This time we have seen how the men in a parking lot, car tires had to unpack on a car. Strangely, we have again made ??the move. At that moment, all passenger cars tires were everywhere. The consolidation of the trailer was a bit broken and too weak for that. All passenger car tires were thrown apart. Although the’ve all seen them, nobody helped, although that was in the center of town, where most cars drive. My husband has stopped quickly in order to help the men. It was very nice, I think. With the help of my husband, everything went faster than without him. The workers were very grateful that he helped in the collection of passenger car tires. I hope they will do anything that they go happily to the target.
